Q & A

What’s the difference between a diploma and a NVQ qualification?

The really depends on what your looking to do, if your looking to treat friends, go mobile or run your business from home then we’d recommend a diploma by the Beauty Guild. However, if you were looking to work in a Salon or Spa most would require you to have an NVQ qualification.

If you decide on the NVQ qualification you'll also be required to attend an additional day for assessment, further to this you'll automatically receive a diploma qualification. More information will be given to you during your practical day at the School.

Can I upgrade my diploma to an NVQ at a later date?

Yes, you’ll have the option to do this. You’ll have to pay the additional £120 for the upgrade, and we’ll then provide you with all the additional material to pass your NVQ qualification. We’ll then schedule in your assessment day at the school.

Where does the training take place?

The training for Make Up and all other beauty courses are taken at our Beauty School based in Rainham, Essex.

We provide students with online access to our training area before they attend the school, we find by doing this they are able to complete the theory in their own time and are able to absorb more information. This also means we have more time for practical, which then allows the tutor demonstrate best practices as well as answer Q & A’s.

Will I be required to do any home study?

As well as doing the online theory at your own pace, students will find that by practising at home AFTER you have taken the course. Performing approximately 6 -8 treatments, they will achieve more confidence in doing Make Up applications.

What do I need to know before I start the course?

No previous experience is required. This course is open to complete beginners, however before we issue the certificate you must complete your online theory.

How many students are there in a class?

We believe in keeping the class sizes small, so students have more one 2 one time with our tutors. Our normal class size is 4.

Will I need to bring a model?

Yes a model is required.  However, if your unable to bring your own model for the make up course just let us know in advance, and we’d be happy to accommodate.

Will I need to bring anything?

No, everything will be provided for you on the course.

Is the Course accredited?

All our courses are approved and accredited by The Guild of Beauty Therapists (Diploma) and VTCT (NVQ).
